Studs are used in the framing of residential or commercial construction. Studs are usually 2X4 or 2X6 dimensional lumber and trimmed to specific lengths. Forest Lumber carries a variety of studs, including finger-jointed SPF for the builder that requires more dimensional stability. Studs, traditionally, are 2 x 4 pieces of lumber used for framing basic buildings in residential construction. They are considered one of the most basic and simple building materials. A stud has nominal dimensions of 2″ to 4″ thickness and 2″ to 6 ” widths. Studs are separated into three different categories: construction, standard and utility.
Every one of our stud pieces comes with the highest grading standards for strength and appearance. Our framing studs can be utilized in framing houses or basic interior structural applications. Studs come in several widths for structural framing such as 2 In. x 6 In. and 2 In. x 4 In. for structural wall and exterior walls. 2 In. x 4 In., and 2 In. x 6 In. can be used for interior walls. These framing studs can also be used in exterior applications as long as it is properly primed and painted or sealed and stained.
